What makes a knife worth keeping for a lifetime?

The Knife Vault is a Canadian knife retailer founded in 2015. For ten years it has hand-picked Damascus, titanium, and fixed-blade knives from workshops it trusts, selling only pieces the team would carry themselves. Every knife is sourced new at order and priced transparently in Canadian dollars.

The blacksmith drawing a glowing blade from the roaring forge, sparks flying

Since 2015, The Knife Vault has stood for a simple conviction: a blade is not merchandise — it is an heirloom in waiting. Every knife that enters the collection is hand-picked from workshops we trust, the way a smith chooses finished work worth standing behind.

Damascus folded by hand. Titanium machined to a whisper. Fixed blades finished one at a time. We do not sell what we would not carry.

Each of the 210 pieces in the vault is chosen without flattery and priced plainly in Canadian dollars — because heritage is built on trust, and trust is built on telling the truth about steel.

Good to Know · Frequently Asked Questions

What do most people ask before buying a knife?

Quick answers for Canadian buyers: knives and small goods ship at 10% — free over $150 CAD — while large workshop machines ship at 15% freight and never free. Delivery is two to four weeks. Shoppers must be 18 or older, all prices are listed in Canadian dollars, and checkout is Stripe or PayPal.

Straight answers on shipping, age verification, legality, pricing, and payment — before you open the vault.

Do you ship knives anywhere in Canada?
Yes. Every order is placed with our vetted international supplier network and shipped directly to your address in Canada with tracking. Knives and small goods ship at 10% of that merchandise, free over $150 CAD. Large workshop equipment — CNC mills, lathes, fiber lasers, and belt grinders — always ships at 15% of item price and is not eligible for free shipping. Applicable GST/HST is calculated at checkout based on your province. Delivery typically takes 2 to 4 weeks, and parcels arrive in plain, discreet packaging.
Why do I have to be 18 or older to buy a knife here?
The Knife Vault sells knives exclusively to adults. You confirm that you are 18 or older at the age gate when you enter the vault, and again when you place an order. Orders may be cancelled and refunded if age cannot be verified.
Are these knives legal to own in Canada?
The folding knives and fixed blades in this collection are legal to own in most of Canada, but knife laws differ between provinces, municipalities, and countries — covering blade length, opening mechanisms, carry, and prohibited classifications. It is your responsibility to know and follow the laws where you live and carry. Orders that cannot be lawfully fulfilled to a destination are cancelled and refunded in full.
Do you sell chef knives and kitchen sets priced in CAD?
Yes. Chef knives, santoku, sets, and Damascus kitchen steel are priced in Canadian dollars. GST/HST is calculated at checkout from your address. Tracked shipping is 10% of the merchandise total, free over $150 CAD.
How do you decide what each knife costs?
All prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD). Each piece is priced from its documented source cost plus a professional retail margin: 100% on pieces under $20 CAD, 70% under $100 CAD, and 50% on pieces over $150 CAD, so pricing stays consistent across the vault.
What payment methods can I use at checkout?
We accept major credit and debit cards through Stripe, and PayPal. Payment details are processed entirely by those providers — The Knife Vault never sees, handles, or stores your full card number.
Do the photos show the exact knife I will receive?
Product photos come from our partner workshops and show the exact make and model you will receive. Every piece is sourced new from the supplier when you order.
What is your return policy?
Unused pieces in original packaging can be returned within 14 days of delivery. The buyer pays return shipping unless the piece arrived damaged or was not as described. Used, sharpened, or unlawfully ordered items are not returnable. See the returns page for the full terms.

New on the Shelf · Kitchen Steel

Which steel belongs on your cutting board?

The vault's kitchen shelf holds sixteen blades chosen for the board, not the display case: VG-10 cores under honest Damascus cladding, powder steel hardened to 63 HRC, and proven high-carbon stainless — named and priced plainly in CAD.

Each family asks something different of the cook and pays something different back — edge life, forgiveness, sharpening rhythm. We wrote the comparison plainly, the way we price: no adjectives that don't survive contact with a whetstone.

A named push-cut primary is the Mitsumoto Sakari VG-10 Damascus santoku. A full drawer in one shipment is the Sanmeiho 16-piece chef knife block set or the Hezhen 7-piece Damascus kitchen knife set. Table work is the Hoshanho 6-piece serrated steak knife set — steak knives, not board knives.
