About The Knife Vault

By The Knife Vault Editorial Team

The Knife Vault is a Canadian online storefront for premium folding knives, fixed blades, Damascus steel and titanium EDC. It was founded in 2015 on a simple conviction: a blade is not merchandise — it is an heirloom in waiting.

Ten years in, the model has not changed. Every piece is hand-picked from a vetted supplier network, priced plainly in Canadian dollars, and shipped tracked to your door.

01 Who we are

The Knife Vault is an online retailer, not a forge. We are the counter, not the anvil: our work is choosing finished pieces worth standing behind, from workshops whose heat treat and fit-and-finish we have handled enough to trust.

The collection runs to well over one hundred pieces across the families on the shelf — Damascus, Titanium EDC, Folding Knives, Fixed Blades, Kitchen, Axes and Tomahawks, Swords, Knife Making, and Tools — and every one of them is a piece the team would carry, cook with, or camp with themselves.

02 How we choose what enters the vault

A piece earns its shelf on four tests, applied in order:

  • ◆ Steel first — named steels with stated hardness, never anonymous "high carbon" claims.
  • ◆ Heat treat and geometry — a great steel with a lazy temper is a bad knife, so grind, edge angle and hardness have to agree.
  • ◆ Fit and finish — lockup without play, centered blades, even Damascus etching, handles without hot spots.
  • ◆ Value — the piece must justify its price against the rest of the shelf, because we pay the same documented source cost you do.

03 What superclone means

A listing marked Superclone is a high-grade replica of a well-known factory pattern that sold out years ago. Even with the money, those originals are effectively gone from the market. Same silhouette, named steel, and working geometry, sold under our name. It is not made, endorsed, or licensed by the original brand, and we never stamp their marks on it. Those pieces live on the Aftermarket patterns shelf — not on Kitchen, chef knives, Damascus, or the workshop-original EDC rails.

Kitchen Damascus, knife-making tools, and anything without that mark are workshop originals or their own designs. We would rather say replica than pretend otherwise.

04 How we price

Every price is documented source cost plus a professional retail margin (100% under $20 CAD, 70% under $100 CAD, 50% over $150 CAD), listed in Canadian dollars. No inflated anchors, no permanent fake sales — the number on the tag is the arithmetic, and the arithmetic is the same for every piece in the vault.

05 Where we ship

Worldwide, tracked from dispatch to door. In Canada, knives and small goods ship at 10% of that merchandise, free over $150 CAD. Large workshop equipment — CNC mills, lathes, routers, fiber lasers, and belt grinders — always ships at 15% of item price and never qualifies for free shipping. Delivery is typically two to four weeks in plain, discreet packaging. We sell to adults aged 18 and over, and orders that cannot be lawfully fulfilled to a destination are cancelled and refunded in full.
