About Handle Rivets
Brass and stainless handle fasteners, not a finished knife
This listing is Handle Rivets — “Knife Handle Bolt Screw Rivets Fastener Brass Stainless Steel for Making Material Scales 1 Pcs.” It is hardware for pinning scales, not a chef’s knife, not a jig, and not a pair of bookmatched wood scales.
Finish as stocked: brass & steel rivets. The title names brass and stainless steel fasteners for making material scales. Piece count on the supplier line is “1 Pcs” — judge the pack against that wording and the photos, not against a hardware-store box of a hundred drywall screws.
No mill blade steel, no HRC, no wattage. SKU KV-123 on the knife-making shelf, priced in CAD. If you opened this URL looking for a Xinzuo bunka, you are in the fasteners aisle.
What you are actually buying
Pins, bolts, and rivets are how scales stay on a tang. Brass is the colour you see on many kitchen wa-handles and on the rivets called out on Xinzuo sycamore knives elsewhere in the vault. Stainless is the corrosion-resistant sibling in the same pack as titled. Mix them only if the look is intentional; a brass pin next to a stainless bolt is a visual choice, not a spec error.
- Listed as: Knife Handle Bolt Screw Rivets Fastener Brass Stainless Steel for Making Material Scales 1 Pcs.
- Materials named: brass and stainless steel.
- Job: pin or bolt scales — G10, wood, bone — to a tang.
- Piece language on the title: 1 Pcs. Count what arrives against the photos.
- Not a knife, not a grinder, not a gift-boxed bunka.
How to pin scales without wrecking a handle
Drill straight. A wandering hole in ebony or G10 is a handle you throw away. Use a drill press if you have one; freehand only if you can keep the bit perpendicular through both scales and the tang.
Peen rivets over a slightly countersunk hole, or torque bolts to snug — not to the point the scale cracks. Brass peens readily; stainless takes more work and will work-harden if you hammer it like a nail. Do not substitute drywall screws. Coarse threads chew wood and do not belong in a kitchen handle that will see water.
Fit the scales first (the wood, G10, or bone blanks sold as other SKUs). Fasteners come last. This pack does not include scales, epoxy, or a drill bit.
Who this fastener pack is for
Buy KV-123 if you are making or repairing a handle and the title’s brass/stainless mix is what you need, in the quantity the “1 Pcs” listing and photos show. Skip it if you wanted the octagonal wenge-and-ebony wa-handle as a finished blank, or G10 Damascus-pattern scales, or a belt-grinder jig.
Makers pinning a kitchen knife should still seal wood after the pins are set. Stainless pins will not stop a walnut scale from moving if you skip finish. Brass will tarnish in a wet kitchen; that is normal, not a defect we pretend is “living finish” marketing.
Storage and limits
Keep the fasteners dry in the bag they arrive in. Brass spots if it sits in a damp toolbox next to flux. This is a knifemaking supply on The Knife Vault knife-making shelf, tracked in CAD, adults 18+.
